TomTom Traffic
TomTom Traffic is a subscription service that gives you real-time traffic information. TomTom Traffic alerts you when there is a jam on the motorway in your region. You can either re-route around the jam, or plan the fastest route. Sometimes, it is faster to drive through a small motorway delay, and you can choose to let TomTom guide you the best way.
In addition to the subscription, your Pocket PC has to be connected to the internet over a GPRS connection to use this helpful service.
Use traffic information with care
TomTom obtains the traffic information from companies specialized in collecting traffic
information. In general the information that is offered is at least as detailed and up-to-date as
the information offered on countrywide radio bulletins and TMC services.
Due to the dynamic nature of traffic it is impossible to detect and report every incident the
moment it occurs. TomTom Traffic will inform you about reported incidents as soon and in the best
possible way. This implies that not all incidents will be reported to you on time, nor that the
incident descriptions are completely correct. Do not rely completely on information provided by
TomTom Traffic, take the common driving practices into account.
Note
Most Bluetooth GPRS phones can only handle one Bluetooth connection at a time.
If you use a Bluetooth car phone kit, in general you will not be able to use the phone at the
same time for updating traffic information in TomTom Navigator.
Warning
Bluetooth bonding and configuring GPRS can be challenging! For help contact your mobile phone and Pocket PC manufacturer. [Ed. Or choose a specialist retailer like TopGPS.]
Confidentiality
TomTom will not collect information, such as GPS positions, from Pocket PCs connected to the
TomTom Traffic Server.
